Bring David Home - close Guantanamo Bay!

Speakers:
  • Kelvin Thomson, Shadow Attorney-General
  • Colleen Hartland, Greens MLC for Western Metropolitan region
On Thursday 11 January, it will be five years since the first hooded, shackled men were brought to the U.S. prison at Guantanamo. Although not a single prisoner has been tried or convicted of any crime, more than 400 still remain, including Australia's David Hicks.

On Thursday, thousands of people in more than 40 cities around the world will join actions calling for an end to the indefinite and immoral detention occurring at Guantanamo Bay. In Melbourne, the vigil will be taking place at 12 noon outside the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade at Casselden Place and will call for the government to bring David Hicks home.

The vigil will take place each subsequent Thursday from 4pm-7pm at the same location until David is freed from Guantanamo.
