The major political parties don’t have plans to solve the real climate crisis.

So next year we will need to campaign strongly on what really needs to be done and not let the new government off the hook. There are key questions not being talked about by most politicians and the media:
  • why is climate change happening more quickly than expected?
  • what does the Arctic sea-ice melt 100 years “ahead of schedule” mean?
  • what are the lessons from recent community-based climate campaigns and what are the opportunities in 2008?
  • can “politics as usual” actually solve the problem, or do we need to recognise we are in a sustainability emergency?
  • are carbon rationing and personal carbon allowances more fair and effective than what big business and politicians want to do?
