50 Years Since Maralinga Commemorative Concert
Sunday October 22 3pm - 5pm Storey Hall RMIT cnr Swanston & La Trobe Sts Melbourne Featuring musicians (including Kutcha Edwards), speakers, recent photographs and interviews with Maralinga veterans. Enquiries: ilanabrahams@bigpond.com | 0425 761 185. September 27, 2006 marked the 50th anniversary of the first of the British nuclear bomb tests at Maralinga. Many army personal were intentionally exposed to high levels of radiation. Many Aboriginal people in the area were not notified of the tests. Some became sick and died. Army veterans and Aboriginal people have developed cancers and other long term health problems as a result of radiation exposure.
