SUPPORT TOYOTA WORKERS IN THE PHILIPPINES

International Day of Action in Support of the Toyota workers in the Philippines

Tuesday 12 September
11.45-12.30pm
MELBOURNE CENTRAL TOWER
360 Elizabeth Street (cnr Lonsdale street)
Melbourne

Organised by:
  • Australian Manufacturing Workers Union (Aust)
  • International Metal Workers' Federation
In 2001 after many years of struggle by Toyota workers in the Philippines for the right to belong to a union and collective employment agreement, the Toyota Philippines Corporation fired 300 workers . The remaining workers went on strike in support of reinstating the sacked workers. The strike was brutally suppressed by troops using live ammunition. Many of the sacked Toyota workers have been on strike since 2001 demanding their jobs back and the right to a collective agreement. On August 16, 2006, police brutally attacked a demonstration by 200 Toyota workers.

TOYOTA PHILIPPINES REINSTATE THEM NOW!
