Why Blockade Botany Cranes:
  • The company employs a former Liberal Party staff-member who is leading the attack on workers rights and safety conditions.
  • The company's union delegate, Barry Hemsworth, has been victimised and sacked using Howard's new anti-worker laws. Barry is on the State Executive of the Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union. He was sacked for "insubordination" - i.e. standing up for his fellow workers' rights.
  • No unfair dismissal means Barry has few remedies for his unfair treatment - this is why we need to act!
  • This company is compromising the safety of their staff and undermining their rights at work. If w do not stand up and defend Barry and his workmates, no one will!
